Organized by the Henan Health Management Association and hosted by the Department of Urology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, the 32nd Henan “Yu Shi Ju Jin” Upper Urinary Tract Stricture Endourology Symposium was successfully held in Zhengzhou, China, from July 25 to 26, 2026. The symposium aimed to advance standardized diagnosis and treatment of upper urinary tract strictures while promoting academic exchange on the latest endourological reconstructive techniques.

The symposium brought together leading experts in urinary tract reconstruction from across China to discuss current challenges in the endoscopic management of upper urinary tract strictures through scientific lectures, panel discussions, and live surgical demonstrations. Professor Xu Changbao, Director of the Department of Urology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, served as Congress Chair.

In his opening remarks, Professor Xu Changbao welcomed the participating urologists and emphasized that upper urinary tract stricture remains one of the most challenging conditions in reconstructive urology. The scientific program officially commenced under the moderation of Professor Zhao Xinghua from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and Professor Yang Dengke from the 990 Hospital of the PLA Joint Logistics Support Force.

Professor Hu Hao from Peking University People's Hospital delivered a keynote presentation entitled “Controversies in Endoluminal Treatment with Novel Ureteral Stents.” Drawing on extensive clinical experience, he discussed patient selection, long-term clinical outcomes, and strategies for complication management associated with next-generation ureteral stent technologies.

Following the presentation, Professors Wang Lei, Liu Yanjun, Mu Qiang, and Jia Bin participated in a panel discussion, sharing their clinical experience and perspectives on individualized treatment strategies for ureteral stent implantation.
Comprehensive Scientific Program Focused on Clinical Practice
Professor Wang Zhifeng from Henan Provincial People's Hospital presented “Experience in Upper Urinary Tract Reconstruction,” reviewing reconstructive strategies for different types of upper urinary tract strictures and sharing surgical planning and perioperative management through representative complex cases.

Professor Liu Changwei delivered a presentation entitled “Current Techniques and Advances in Endoscopic Treatment of Ureteral Strictures,” reviewing contemporary endourological treatment options and discussing recent technological developments and ongoing clinical challenges.

During the interactive discussion session, participants exchanged perspectives on optimal surgical timing, intraoperative risk management, and prevention of postoperative recurrence, creating a dynamic platform for academic exchange.
The scientific program concluded with a presentation by Professor Xu Changbao on his clinical experience with metallic ureteral stents, highlighting practical considerations and technical pearls for challenging endourological procedures.

Live Surgical Demonstrations Highlighted Advanced Minimally Invasive Techniques
A key feature of the symposium was the live surgery session. Professor Hu Hao performed a live implantation of the EVT Ureteral Stent System under fluoroscopic guidance, providing step-by-step commentary on the procedural workflow, key technical considerations, and intraoperative troubleshooting. Professor Xu Changbao subsequently demonstrated implantation of the EVT Ureteral Stent System for a complex ureteral stricture under fluoroscopic guidance, followed by a fluoroscopy-free implantation performed under direct endoscopic visualization. The fluoroscopy-free approach demonstrated an innovative technique designed to reduce radiation exposure for both patients and healthcare professionals while maintaining procedural precision.
