Advancing specialized expertise and improving clinical practice. To further standardize endoscopic techniques for the treatment of ureteral stricture, enhance clinicians’ professional skills and hands-on capabilities, and provide an efficient platform for academic exchange and technical training, the 4th Advanced Training Course on Endoscopic Treatment of Ureteral Stricture was successfully held on August 21 at Beijing Aerospace Central Hospital.

The program adopted an integrated teaching model combining systematic theoretical lectures with immersive live surgical demonstrations. With a strong focus on clinical practice and procedural precision, the course provided participants with high-quality, practical training in the endoscopic management of ureteral stricture and mental ureteral stent placement techniques.

Building a Strong Foundation Through Advanced Theoretical Training

A solid theoretical foundation is essential for clinical practice, while precise diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making is the prerequisite for continuous technical improvement.

The course invited Professor Zhang Bao and Professor Hu Hao to deliver specialized lectures entitled:

• “Application of Novel Urinary Tract Stents in the Ureter and Urethra”
• “Controversial Issues in the Endoscopic Treatment of Ureteral Stricture with Mental Ureteral Stents”

The lectures focused on key topics in the endoscopic treatment of ureteral stricture, including clinical treatment principles, technical mechanisms, indications, perioperative management, prevention and management of complications, and other important clinical considerations.

Drawing on extensive real-world clinical experience, the two professors systematically analyzed technical challenges, clarified common diagnostic and treatment misconceptions, and shared their clinical decision-making approaches. From strengthening fundamental knowledge to exploring complex clinical issues, the sessions provided participants with a structured understanding of the relevant treatment strategies and clinical concepts.

The theoretical sessions established a solid foundation for the subsequent surgical demonstrations and hands-on learning.

Enhancing Clinical Skills Through Immersive Live Surgical Training

One of the key highlights of the program was its immersive teaching model integrating theoretical education with live surgical demonstration and clinical instruction.

Following the theoretical sessions, participants moved on to observe live clinical procedures and receive practical surgical guidance.

Professor Zhang Bao and Professor Hu Hao demonstrated the complete surgical workflow, providing detailed instruction on key procedural steps, medical device handling techniques, intraoperative decision-making, and critical technical details. Each stage of the procedure was carefully explained to help participants understand the rationale behind standardized surgical techniques.

Through close observation of the standardized surgical workflow and immersive clinical learning, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the mental ureteral stent placement procedure, including the complete procedural pathway and essential technical considerations.

This combination of expert-led surgical demonstration and practical clinical teaching helped participants strengthen their understanding of endoscopic treatment techniques for ureteral stricture and improve their clinical procedural skills.
