On October 19, 2025, the Urology Team of Fuyang Nan County Third People's Hospital successfully completed Anhui Province's first implantation using the domestic Yiweidi Ureteral Stent System. The operation proceeded smoothly, and post-operative imaging examinations of the patient showed that the ureteral lumen had returned to normal patency. The EVT Medical Ureteral Stent System is used to treat ureteral obstruction caused by benign strictures or malignant tumor compression, providing a new endoluminal treatment option.

The patient was a female who had undergone radiotherapy after cervical cancer surgery in 2022. She had a regular ureteral stent in place, which was replaced periodically. In June 2025, hydronephrosis was detected, and pressure-resistant stents were placed bilaterally. A re-examination two months later revealed persistent hydronephrosis and ascites, along with a stricture in the lower segment of the left ureter. Three days after the placement of a double-J stent, the patient experienced urinary retention, prompting the decision to perform left ureteral covered stent implantation.

The patient was placed under general anesthesia and positioned in the lithotomy position. A ureteroscope was inserted, followed by a safety guidewire, whose position was confirmed under X-ray. Retrograde pyelography was performed to identify the location and length of the stricture. Given the severity of the stricture, balloon dilation was deemed unfeasible; instead, a percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) kit dilator was used for gradual stepwise dilation (10Fr/12Fr/14Fr) until reaching 16Fr. The dilation process lasted approximately 1 hour, with continuous monitoring under fluoroscopy. Once the strictured segment was dilated, the EVT Medical Ureteral Stent System was inserted along the guidewire until the stent fully covered the strictured area. The outer sheath was then slowly withdrawn to deploy the stent, and full deployment was confirmed under fluoroscopy. The pull-wire handle was loosened, and the pull-wire was removed. After allowing the stent to fully expand for approximately 3 minutes, the delivery system was withdrawn. A double-J stent was placed, and a ureteroscope and retrograde angiography were used again to confirm the stent's position. Finally, the guidewire and other instruments were removed, marking the end of the surgery. Immediately after the operation, the patient resumed normal urine output.

The successful first implantation of the EVT Medical Ureteral Stent System in Anhui Province offers a new technical option for the endoluminal treatment of ureteral strictures. In the future, Yiweidi will continue to advance technological innovation to bring greater benefits to patients' health.
